Find your optimal challenge risk
Model your win rate, reward-to-risk, drawdown rules, fees, and payout split to estimate the risk level that minimizes your expected cost to reach funding.
How to use the calculator
Step 1Enter your strategy stats. Add your win rate and reward-to-risk ratio. The expectancy message tells you whether the strategy is expected to make or lose money long-term.
Step 2Configure the challenge. Choose single or two phase, then enter fee, target, drawdown, and drawdown style.
Step 3Set the funded account. Add account size and profit split so the break-even return can be calculated.
Step 4Run the simulation. Results appear only after you run it, so the first screen stays focused on setup.
How the calculation engine works
The calculator runs in the browser. For each risk level from 0.5% to 5%, it simulates 10,000 challenge attempts using a seeded random engine so the same inputs produce stable results.
Each trade is modeled as a win/loss event. A win adds risk x reward-to-risk; a loss subtracts the selected risk. An attempt ends when the equity path hits the profit target or breaches drawdown.
Two phase mode requires phase one to pass and then a second verification phase to pass. Expected cost is challenge fee / pass rate. The 90% budget solves 1 - (1 - pass rate)^n >= 90%.
